SOE Debugging Not Working - ArcSOC.exe not in the Available Processes List

I developed a SOE project 2 months ago, and it worked well in debugging. Now, I updated this project and wanted to debug it, but not successful. I followed the procedure: Debugging SOEs using the Visual Studio debugger (in http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/...0000pn6000000/). The procedure Step 7 states that 'In Visual Studio, click Tools > Attach to Process ...' and Step 8 states that 'Select the ArcSOC.exe process ...'. However, ArcSOC.exe is not in the Available Processes List. I checked Task Manager and saw that 5 ArcSOC are started. How can I add an ArcSOC.exe into the list? Thanks in advance if you can help for this question.

Editing in a Server Object Extension

I know that the standard mechanism for web editing is to set up a feature service, however the issue that I have with that is that it is associated with a single transactional version (typically SDE.DEFAULT, but it can point at another version). I have a situation where I may have many dozens of transactional versions representing multiple potential designs, and as such hitting a single version through a feature service doesn't seem to be quite the right fit.
I have an idea for creating a Server Object Extension (SOE) which would expose what is essentially a REST endpoint for purposes of editing on a version of the users choosing. The exposed SOE method might take the name of the version to apply the edit to, a feature identifier (probably a feature class name and and ObjectID), and an array of name/value pairs of how that feature should be updated. Similar methods might work for object creation and deletion as well. I'm wondering if anyone has tried to do something like this before or might comment as to its wisdom? It seems theoretically possible, but perhaps changing from one version to another in an SOE is just a really bad idea for some reason that I'm not currently aware of. It seems a little hacky to me.

Confirming active extensions

Is there a way to verify what ArcGIS Server 10.1 extensions you have enabled(e.g., Network Analyst, Spatial Analyst, etc.) on a GIS Server, perhaps similar to desktop? We are using ArcGIS Server 10.1.

We are having some issues with publishing services requiring Network Server. Every time I attempt to publish a routing service to our local GIS Server I receive an error code: 00147 "The Network Analyst extension is not licensed on the ArcGIS Server". I imagine this error is a result of extension licensing issues, however I've authorized our GIS Server with Network Analyst and we are using Server Advanced.

Regardless, I am trying to see if anyone is aware of way for you to check what extensions are authorized on an ArcGIS Server. I want to see if the ecp file we are using is actually authorizing specific extensions.

Broken links to Feature Service in ArcMap when enabling security in ArcGIS Server

Hi all,

I am using layers linked to a Feature Service stored in ArcGIS.

When the map service (Feature Service) is not protected, layers can successfully connect to the Server and display the information.

If I set role, username and password for the feature service, Arcmap does not prompt for any username and password and the layer links appear broken.

In the other hand, if I add the feature services AFTER having set the username and password in the GIS server, then save and when I open the map again, although I am prompted by Arcmap to enter username and password, the broken links appear, so I don't know what to do.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Jose.

Soap Soe static data problem

Hi, I've been developing a soap soe to be deployed on a map service that I don't intend to be displayed anywhere as a map, just a way to get to the underlying data through arcgis server as a webservice. Now I realize the results of the soe reflect how the data was when the map service was started. If I make edits to the data the edits aren't reflected in the results until i restart the map service....

If I do display the map service and pan the map or zoom or whatever, then the data is "refreshed" for the soe... but this doesn't seem right to have to do that. Is there a way around this?
(AGS 10.1 sp1 with sde)

Thanks a lot.

Major problems with Server Manager GUI: ArcGIS 10.2 for Server

$

Hello,

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 x64
Browser: IE10 or Firefox
ArcGIS 10.2 for Server

Problem 1: When creating KML network links in Server Manager, layers of certain kml-enabled services will not appear in "Show Layers" area of window (see attached image) so that layers can be turned on and off. The "Show Layers" area will not update when a service with long layer/group names is selected. To fix, one must ungroup or rename layers in the mxd and republish as another service that has less group layers or layers with shorter names. The issue is related to the length of names of layers and group layers as set in mxd. For layers/groups with long names, the Server Manager GUI is completely flaky, as either layers will not display at all in "Show Layers" area, or the Back and Next buttons at lower right will vanish, making it impossible to create KML links for that service. There is no way to resize the GUI window for KML network link creation.

Problem 2: once service layers appear in window, even if one turns certain layers off, all layers will be on when the kml link is displayed in Google Earth. This was not true in Server 10.0.

Please help, as we are completely unable to leverage KML network links for viewing in Google Earth. Server 10.0 works fine in this regard. I work for the USGS, where we just got 10.2 two weeks ago, and we have hundreds of people who will encounter this problem.

Thank you in advance.....

Do features have to reside in ArcGIS Server

$

We have our web services in ArcGIS Server. The public works department created a shapefile of garbage routes. Does this have to reside in ArcGIS Server? I know it would then be a feature class, not a shapefile, but we don't update the schema very often because we have to kick everyone off while we do it, or so I'm told. In other words, can I use the shapefile? Thanks.

Replicate ArcSDE to File GDB and Edit on Mobile

I'm wondering if the following scenario is possible or if anything has tried it and if so, what are the general steps...

Our production data sits in ArcSDE (sql server 2008) and we're wondering if it's possible to replicate the SDE geodatabase to a file geodatabase and have the file geodatabase editable by mobile users either through Collector or ArcGIS Online. The file geodatabase would then be synched back to the SDE.

Thanks in advance!

How can I enable "Support Rollback On Failure" for a feature server?

$

Recently we began doing online editing of data by enabling Feature Access on some services, but we are having issues where features are being duplicated because there is no rollback when a failure occurs, and on subsequent attempts features that have been previously created are created again with different object ids. When I look at the service properties I can see that "Supports Rollback On Failure" is false, but I don't see anywhere in server manager where I can enable this. How can I configure my service to support rollback?

Caching Bundle.done files hanging around

$

This is not a problem, just more of an observation. We have noticed that for some of our cache builds, not all of the .done files are being cleaned up as part of the build.

http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisserv...0000006r000000 states that "All the .lock and .done files should go away when the caching job has finished."

Just wondering if I should be looking into a systemic issue or not, or if this is an indicator of something else going on. It appears to be just the 600 scale folder. Roughly 1/2 a dozen .done files in a collection of 3,000 or so bundles.

Environment:
ArcGIS Server 10.2
Cache is built using 36 instances spread out of 9 VMs
File GDB copied locally to each of the VMs

Nearest Feature

I'm not sure what the appropriate forum is for this question...

Is it possible, when editing a feature service through ArcGIS Online to populate a field based on an attribute of the nearest feature? If so, what would this take?

Thanks in advance!

ArcGIS Server 9.1 to 10.1 - website can no longer be .Net?

I am currently running ArcGIS Server Standard Workgroup 9.1 and I told that if I move to 10.1 [and most definitely at 10.2] the website can no longer be the .net version and needs to be created in silverlight or flex. Is that correct?

getting raster data withoud adding them to mxd

Hello!

At current moment if we need add rasters to mxd files and then make service from it, then we can get data from this service on web-map. The problem that I can't add rasters to mxd by hands. The system should automatically get new data from server, and then user via web-interface should be able to access to this data.

I have heard that I can use raster catalog to it, and (as I heard) I would not need to restart service to get access to new data. Is this right way? And where I can get docs/information how it's can be done?

example:
operator load data to DB
user can do search of data in web-interface, and service should not be restarted every time when I add new data.

ArcGIS Server Manager page not accessible after https/SSL configuration

i was in the middle of configuring ArcGIS Server 10.1 in the rest ADMIN where i was enabling HTTPS only instead of HTTP then imported an SSL certificate when suddenly the connection with the ADMIN page got lost and i could not connect again. i get a message the page could not be displayed or found. i was using https://servername:6443/ArcGIS/manager and https://serverName:6443/arcgis/admin/security/config but after i lost the connection, i am not able to open the ArcGIS server pages. in addition, i could not connect using http with port 6080. Moreover, i could not connect to ArcGIS server from ArcCatalog as its complaining about a BAD address.

i forgot to mention that i checked the service for ArcGIS server and confirmed it is running. i even restarted the service several times and restarted the host server with no luck.

we are running ArcGIS server 10.1 on Windows Sever 2008 R2 environment NO web adapter configured

how to re-establish the connection to ArcGIS Server manager or rest pages ?

is there a way to reset the configuration from HTTPS only to HTTPs and HTTP ?

is there a way to default back these security changes in ArcGIS Server ?

appreciate any input

thanks

Publishing geoprocessing service takes forver

$

Here is an odd one. I am trying to publish a geoprocessing service (a python script). It published without issues last week. Lately however when I try and re-publish, it takes over 30 minutes to publish. After much digging around I found the slowness to be attributed to the following two lines at the top of my python script:

**************
import os
import uuid
**************

In test cases I remove these lines and the service publishes in 5 seconds. When I include these lines it takes 30 minutes...
The script in toolbox always runs fast, its just when I try and publish as a service is when it gets slow.

I don't know what I did (if anything) to cause this slowness. I even re-installed Desktop and Server and its still slow when I use the above import statements.

Does anyone know of anything I can do to get the service to find the libraries quickly when publishing teh service?
Maybe I can set the path to these libraries explicitly so the service isn't looking around forever?

Thanks for any ideas.

Shawn

Hi. Does anyone know whether there a limit on how many users I can add to a role? What would happen if I added 10,000s of users from Windows Domain to a role with the following setup:

User Store: Windows Domain
Role Store: ArcGIS Server Built-in
Authentication Tier GIS Server
Authentication Mode: ArcGIS Tokens

Thanks.

Feature Access service: 00166: Layer's ObjectID is not maintained by the database

Using 10.2 Arcmap/ArcGIS Server on Windows with PostgreSQL 9.2/PostGIS 2.0. I'm try to publish a Feature Access service with all the Operations and Capabilities enabled against a purely PostGIS table (not using Esri's ST_GEOMETRY type). However, when publishing I get this blocking error during the ArcMap validation part.

"00166: Layer's ObjectID is not maintained by the database and the feature service is being published with Create capability enabled"

Here is the database creation script, which clearly has an auto-incrementing primary key (and editing the data outside of ArcMap proves the database is managing the ObjectID values)

Code:

CREATE SEQUENCE test_schema.mypoint_const_b_seq
INCREMENT 1
MINVALUE 1
MAXVALUE 9223372036854775807
 START 1
CACHE 1;
 ALTER TABLE test_schema.mypoint_const_b_seq
 OWNER TO postgres;

CREATE TABLE test_schema.mypoint_const_b
(
  objectid integer NOT NULL DEFAULT nextval('test_schema.mypoint_const_b_seq'::regclass),
  volmon24_i integer,
  site_id integer,
  waterbody character varying(30),
  CONSTRAINT mypoint_const_b_pkey PRIMARY KEY (objectid)
)
WITH (
  OIDS=FALSE
);

SELECT AddGeometryColumn ('test_schema','mypoint_const_b','geom',4326,'MULTIPOINT',2,    false);

ALTER TABLE test_schema.mypoint_const_b
  OWNER TO postgres;

CREATE INDEX mypoint_const_b_geom_gist
  ON test_schema.mypoint_const_b
  USING gist
  (geom);

What are the rules for creating PostGIS tables that ArcGIS Server 10.2 can use for publishing a Feature Access service with the Create function enabled?

A service with “feature access” enabled fails to be added to web mapping application,

A service with “feature access” capability fails to be added to my “Gecortex for Silverlight” web mapping application and got the error below (esriCarto.GraphicFeatureServer)

Attachment 30223, Attachment 30224

What might be the issue here? Is it related to the Gecortex or ArcGIS Server?

Thank you
Best

Hello,

The company that I work for has 2 identical map servers and we are wanting to know if there is a way to programatically switch the map servers on a weekly basis. Obviously I am not a programming guru. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
