Map cashing: selecting tilling schema file,

I’m wondering how the tilling schema file can be changed (another schema file is required to be used as tilling schema file).

The system doesn’t allow selecting the tilling schema file (after a schema file is selected)

How might this issue be resolved?

Thank you

Changes on mxd don't appear on its published CACHED service,

I’m wondering why the changes on the mxd file are not displayed on its Cashed published service despite the fact that

1. The option “update cache automatically” is checked

Attachment 21852

2. The option “overwrite an existing service” is chosen

Attachment 21853

3. The option “keep existing map cache” is unchecked

Attachment 21854

4. The status of the cache is updated

Attachment 21855

5. Why a new service is created? How the web application will be directed to this new service?

Attachment 21856

What might be the issue then? How the cached service is updated to update the web application?

Thank you

Best

Arcgis server - WFS - openlayers srs problem

$

Hi,

I'm trying to display vector features over Google Maps with Open layers. As vectors are stored projected using EPSG: 3949, and Google Maps comes with unprojected EPSG: 900913, on the fly conversion is mandatory but doesn't work. Data are display in Norway instead of France.

Using GetCapabilities, I noticed that Arcgis returns

<wfs: DefaultSRS>urn: ogc: def:crs:EPSG:6.9: 3949</wfs: DefaultSRS>
<wfs:OtherSRS>urn: ogc: def:crs:EPSG:6.9: 4326</wfs: OtherSRS>

If I understand well, this means that Arcgis Server WFS is not able to deliver EPSG: 900913 ? In this case, it's useless to set openlayers.protocol.wfs srsname to EPSG:900913 ?

Am I right ? Is there a way to set Arcgis Server that it can send data converted in EPSG: 900913 ?

Thanks for any idea,

Olivier

ERROR: “Base definition table string “boundary” is invalid” + “packaging failed” + “the data item is inaccessible” + ….,

This is one of the most complicated error that I couldn’t figure out how it might be solved.

This error is generated when trying to publish a particular mxd file from the CLIENT MACHINE (in which the ArcGIS server is NOT installed)!

I copied the folder containing my data and mxd to the D:\ partition of the SERVER MACHINE and tried to publish it (from the SERVER MACHINE) and found out that it is published without any problem. Then the issue is not related to the feature class itself but to the publishing from the CLIENT MACHINE. Are we supposed then to publish from the server machine itself?!

I did all the valuable suggestions I received from the professional guys on the forum but sounds not to work. Amongst:

1. The folder containing the data is SHARED with everyone
2. Everyone has granted a FULL SECURITY CONTROL on the folder containing the data
3. The folder containing the data is REGISTERED in the “DATA STORE”
4. A user called “ArcGIS Server Account” user is created on the CLIENT MACHINE and is shared and granted full security control on the folder containing the data

Facts:

• The network map of my machines is as shown in the screenshot below (where p1 is the client machine and p2 is the server machine)

Attachment 21870

• The users of the client machine are shown in the screenshot below

Attachment 21871

• “Everyone” and “ArcGIS Server Account” users are shared to the folder containing the data, are granted full security control and registered in the “data store”.

NEVERTHELESS, I’m still getting the errors below!

Attachment 21872, Attachment 21873, Attachment 21874

What might be the issue then? What I need to consider to overcome this very frustrating problem?

Thank you very much,

Best

custom java identity store for 10.1

we're trying to integrate an existing, complex authentication system (using passwords, LDAP, google/facebook/etc authentication depending on the user) into arcGIS server. we don't actually need arcGIS manager to manage this as its an existing system w/working management tools in place. we were hoping that we could just implement the validateUser method, is this the case? or do we need to implement more methods?

thanks.

Different results for REST API Identify in SDE and Query Layer (same spatial table)

$

Dear all,

I'm using the following software:
ArcGIS Server Enterprise Standard 10.1 SP1 (Windows)
ArcSDE for Oracle 10.1 SP1 (Windows)
Oracle 11g R2 (Windows)

After installing ArcSDE in Oracle Spatial, I've created one Feature Class with SDO Geometry, SRID 8307, 0.05 Tolerance and R-tree Spatial Index (I've set up all these parameters in the dbtune file and chose them during the creation). This Feature Class has some administrative boundaries loaded.

I've added this spatial table both as a SDE layer and as a Oracle Spatial Query Layer to a MXD document (Dataframe in WGS84 GCS). Published this document as a ArcGIS service and used it for some identify operations via the ArcGIS Server Rest API.

Now, the strange happens. Using a polygon as my identify geometry (coordinates in WGS84 GCS as well), both layers return different results.
The SDE Layer returns correct results, but the Query Layer returns a geometry that does not intersent my identify polygon, albeit the identify polygon is near it.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Gil

GIS web application browsers builders don’t start,

I tried to start the

1. ArcGIS Web Applications Manager
2. ArcGIS Viewer for Flex
3. ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight 3.0

But end up with nothing,

Attachment 21910, Attachment 21914

Also, I tried to view the previously built web applications from the IIS but nothing is displayed despite the fact that they can be displayed from the ArcGIS Server manager (as shown in the screenshot below)

Attachment 21911, Attachment 21912, Attachment 21913

What might be the issue? Is this related to web browsers?

Thank you

please help me !

I would like to buy Arcgis Server Version 10. How much is that? Furthermore, I would like to know how many users can share that license version as well as the price for 10 users license version and 50 users license version. Is there any training to be able to use this? How long will it take? Or I would like to know where I can join training class.

Map Caching Error for a particular scale

Hi,
I have been trying to create a cache of a map service which contains an image. I have created a tiling scheme for the map service. While I was able to create cache for almost all the scales in the tiling scheme, the caching gives me an error for a particular scale. I have attached the error message for the reference.
I have tried number of things right from changing the mxd, increasing the instances of the map service, resarting the server and ArcGIS server service, changing the cache directory(having more space) etc etc. but in vain.
Please suggest how do I succesfully create cache.

Two (or more) deep relationship classes in Map Service 10.1

$

Greetings,

I'm stumped, and hope I'm not missing something obvious. I have a SDE geodatabase (in PostgreSQL) with a feature class and two tables. The Feature class is called "Sites". Sites has a 1:M relationship class to a table called "Visit". "Visit" has a 1:M relationship class to a table called "Observation". So, the relationship classes go "two deep"...

Sites - 1:M - Visits - 1:M - Observations

This is not my preferred way of modelling this, but there is a business requirement forcing us.

In ArcMap, adding the feature class works fine. When I do an identify, I see the tree with the proper nesting. I have added the feature class and the tables to a map document, and published it as a service.

When you explore the REST end points, you see that the relates are present on the feature class and the tables.

However, when you view the map service inside of ArcMap, or inside the Flex viewer, you are only ever presented with the first level of the relationship. That is, you see the "Sites", and you see the related "Visits" but you never see the "Observations".

At first, I assumed this was a limitation of the Flex Viewer (probably is), but ArcMap behaves the same way. I've included some screen grabs to show this issue in ArcMap - one shows the SDE layer, the other the map service.

Any thoughts? Is "one deep" a limit for Map Services?

Why does it take so long to create a service definition?

$

I've created a map document in ArcMap 10.1 SP1, and from that I'm sharing it as a service definition. The data in the map document is stored on a shared drive (which happens to be on the same machine that hosts my ArcGIS Server instance). The data folder is registered with ArcGIS Server (using its UNC path). I'm saving the .sd file in the shared folder on the server.

Creating the service definition is taking forever (over 1/5 hours). Granted, the data source is fairly large, but since it's not being copied to the server, what's taking so long to create the service definition?

Thanks,

Jon.

Export Web Map and legend color oddness - ArcGIS for Server 10.1

$

Hi,

I have a geoprocessing service which exports its results as a map service. I use this to produce a printable map via the Export Web Map utility. The issue I'm having is the seemingly odd designation of colors for the output layer. I've symbolized the output with the exact same layer file I use for the input (output is basically a subset of input) and the colors are completely different, though consistently (as far as I can tell) completely different, i.e. the same odd palate is used each time.

Does anyone have any clues?

Thanks,

Frank

a question about "Type ID Field" in REST Directory

$

There is a fied called "Type ID Field" in rest directory. At first, i guess it means subfield. To proving my guess, i do a test. I created a mxd with simple render. The data is from sde, then i set the subtypes of the feature class. Finally i share it as service setting its capabilities "mapping & feature access". After successfully publish it, i open the rest directory , i first see the "Type Id Field" in the MapServer , it accually is TEST2, but when i check the Feature service the "Type Id Field" doen't have value.

so, i wonder to konw what is the "type id filed" on earth and why it has value in mapserver, doen't have value in Feature service.

Search Service and mapped client drives?

$
0

With ArcGIS Server (10.1), is it possible to register a folder to the Search Service for indexing using one path, and serve it to users with another? how?

For example the server sees \\geodata-server\data and \\geodata-server\maps while the clients use Z:\ and Y:\ respectively.

Under .../arcgiserver:6080/arcgis/manager/site.html >> Date Store I've registered and validated the folders, and successfully published map services with these settings, but the data store settings appear to be ignored by Search Service: search results in the clients show the UNC path.

Data Store:
Name: Repository
Publisher Folder Path: Z:\
Publisher Folder Hostname: geodata-server
Server Folder Path: \\geodata-server\data
.
I already tried just using the same mapped drive settings on the arcgis server, but that doesn't work as the server account isn't an interactive logon account and thus the mappings never come into effect.

Secure service differently for each user

$

I could not find any way to secure a map service (neither dynamic nor cached) so that the authenticated user could see/query/find only its assigned extent. I want to have only one service for a large number of users and each user should be allowed to consume only the data from within the contour of a feature (i.e. a county) or from within a rectangular extent that is assigned differently for each user.
Is it possible? Can it be done with a SOE (to interfere with the export/query/data capabilities)?
Or can I use a proxy server that could filter the responses?
I want this to be done at the server level as I do not have complete control of the user's clients that consume the service.
Creating different services for each user (or group of users) could lead to hundreds of services that the server could not handle.

Can you give me an idea about how I could implement a request like this?

Mosaic Dataset as Map Service - Black and White tiles?

Having an issue when I publish a mosaic dataset map service to server. When I zoom in past 1:2000, the imagery disappears and black and white check background shows? When I zoom in past 1:2000 in the actual mosaic dataset it works fine, just when viewing it in a map service, it won't show the imagery past 1:2000 (either cached or dynamic), see map service here:
